IT IS LEARNED

I knew the life and desired

The light, the flower, and the prospect:

A hamlet of light, almost lost,

Flower that is born a white morning,

And the prospect of your eyes.

Forgetting what was learned and pledged

With wings of exile.

One for two never increases the pace,

Neither the passion, nor the fire of being alive,

There are many eyes in the shaded pinegrove

And this madness floating aimlessly.

It will rain again on my land

And they will walk again in the mud:

We shall even remove our shoes.

I do not recall the feet that follow me

Though I listen, when I remain alone,

For a mother's weeping without justice.

And certainly, I will continue forgetting

Day after night, after week and year

Where I was born and from where I come.
